haiti_quakeOne year + after the 2010 Earthquake in Haiti and we still see the devastation. Many are still homeless and hungry, sick and dying. Medical supplies and food relief are sometimes stymied and caught up in a political quagmire. Rebuilding is very slow. But our Salesian Haitian Relief funds have been successfully delivered and received by the Haitian Regional Directress, who has distributed our funds to the many who are in need.

To date we have collected over $17,000 from Associates of St. Francis de Sales and their friends. The latest contributions are now being delivered to our Salesian Family in Haiti by a trusted messenger.

Above and beyond the money that was collected, there were 200 pairs of gym shoes that were also delivered to a poor parish in Port-au-Prince. The gym shoes were collected by the Elmhurst, Il Group; boxed by a priest in Naperville, IL; delivery charges paid by our Salesian Haitian Relief, in Vero Beach, FL; arrangements made by  the Group Directress for South Florida; finally picked up at the port authority in Port-au-Prince by an Associate who made the delivery to a parish in Port-au-Prince where the Pastor distributed them to 200 most grateful Haitians. It was through the kindness, generosity, and cooperation of many that made this happen. The total effort took six months of persistence, patience and mostly prayer.

In the name of our Salesian Family in Haiti, thank you again for your kind donations and most of all your prayers.
