A companion is a spiritual friend who guides one through the two year formation, helping you follow the program, learn how to apply the spirituality to one's particular life situation and remains a friend ever after. She is not a spiritual director and is cautioned never to intrude in areas of her charges lives that are personal or a matter for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. She serves to facilitate the schedule of probations is followed and completed; recommending you for consecration once you are ready. Usually your assignment continues beyond the consecration, as all associates are required to have a companion.
